I am a spirited, earthy girl from Washington State who is passionate about nature, life, and art.
I took a leap of faith and landed in San Francisco to continue my blossoming in art in 1995 after I received my BFA from Washington State University and have continued to indulge my inner spirit through painting since my journey brought me here.
Nurturing ones true spirit and talent is, in a sense, being the gardener of your soul. Tending to this garden may bring with it frustration and disappointment, but with passion, persistence, and commitment your garden will become abundant; inspiration will emerge and your creativity will blossom.
Sharla approaches each canvas much in the way she does her life, with a lot of heart and soul.
She is truly connected to the process, the working of the paint into the canvas, the release of energy, and the ebb & flow of emotion that translates into her paintings.
She does not paint with brushes, rather with her husbands old t-shirts and rags which enables her to really work the paint into the canvas so the connection is intentional and meaningful.
She also chooses titles that show a little of her playfulness and perhaps make you smile a little. Although her paintings may have evolved from a place of deep emotion she wants her audience to choose to connect with her art in a way that makes sense to them. This is how the creative circle becomes complete.
Sharla’s paintings are genuine, little personal pieces of herself that she sends out into the world to be released. Many of her clients have been first time art buyers, which Sharla takes as a heartfelt compliment.
I thank you for your support and sharing the journey, with me, for this moment.
